At Pickard Hanson Show Horses, it’s always been about finding the right horse for the right rider—and helping both become the best they can be. Husband-and-wife team Amber Hanson Pickard and Dwayne Pickard work with clients of all ages, offering training, showing, buying and selling of AQHA performance horses in both English and Western disciplines. At the heart of the Pickard Hanson program is starting and developing young horses, giving each horse the foundation to turn natural ability into athletic performance in the show pen.

Amber and Dwayne specialize in Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle, from starting promising young prospects to preparing seasoned show horses and their riders for competition. Their approach combines individualized training, thoughtful horsemanship, and years of experience developing horses that have gone on to become World Champions and major-event winners.

Amber’s career has now earned her recognition in the NSBA Quarter Million Dollar Club, reflecting years of success in the show pen and the horses, owners, and riders who have been part of that journey.
They also assist clients with the purchase and sale of quality AQHA show horses, matching horses and riders with an eye toward ability, suitability, and long-term success.
OUR HOME IN TEXAS
In 2023, Amber and Dwayne sold their Michigan training farm and established their new private training facility in Brenham, Texas, near Houston. Designed around the needs of their horses and clients, the ranch is now home to the Pickard Hanson training program and the next generation of horses being developed for the show pen.
